This apartment building in Queen Anne was built in 1909 and had 5 windows in need of repair/restoration. Because of the properties age, there is a likelihood of lead paint present. I took all precautions necessary for the containment and abatement of contaminated lead chips and dust. The property managers didn’t know that these windows were double hung. Upon evaluation, the upper sashes (top window) were painted shut. The parting beads were also painted and in need of replacement. No pocket covers were made during the original installation of the windows. I made a pocket cover for each sets of weights. Because of paint build up some light sanding was required on friction surfaces. This video shows the new unpainted parting beads and how both sashes (windows) go up and down upon completion. This apartments 5 windows took me 3 days to complete.
